Picante
Lead Engineer
Picante is a multi-party payments protocol that allows merchants and service providers to get paid quickly and at an extremely low cost. We work with quick-commerce, e-commerce and transport companies so that they can offer their customers the fastest and cheapest payouts possible, putting more money into everyone’s pockets.
Our initial focus is on the tremendous opportunity in Southeast Asia, where the major economies are made up of 655 million people, nearly doubling that of the U.S. and with a GDP greater than the 6 largest economies in South America, combined. In emerging markets such as Thailand, it can take up to 6 weeks for merchants to get paid, while being charged up to 19% for payment processing. With Picante, this can now happen in seconds and will cost them less than 1% of each transaction. Picante is here to disrupt industries in Southeast Asia with a next generation payment protocol and native token. Come join us on our journey to become the largest player in the payment space and in the region.
Due to a recent round of funding, we’re searching for a Lead Engineer who wants to work on stuff that matters. We think that providing an alternative to our current classist financial system falls into that category.
We don’t have any specific educational or technology requirements. We believe that a good, experienced engineer with a pragmatic approach can adapt and learn to get the job done.
You’ll be building the payment rails so people in emerging markets (and eventually developed countries) can sell their goods and services online and get paid quickly and cheaply. Think of it as a crypto version of Stripe.
You’ll be tasked with:
- Working with our Founding team to design our developer platform
- Creating feature-rich APIs and SDK and documenting them.
- Writing smart contracts using Solidity.
- Using AWS and other cloud services to create scalable solutions.
- Assisting with the creation of our automated testing framework.
- Implementing CI/CD.
- Contributing to brainstorming sessions, researching technologies and bringing your ideas to the team.
What you’ll need:
- Extensive practical programming experience - Python or Javascript
- Experience building microservices, consuming and designing APIs, building and managing scalable big data systems, managing several types of databases and queuing systems, and automating in AWS or other cloud providers.
- Experience in DeFi and Blockchain technologies, and using Solidity to write smart contracts would be highly beneficial but are not essential.
- Familiar with cybersecurity best practices
- High level of comfort working autonomously and with fellow engineers.
- A collaborative, highly organised approach with effective communication skills.
We also expect you to care deeply about the developer experience and believe crypto is the future.
Strong compensation package, offering either fiat salary payment or $USDC, in combination with tokens, the specific proportion of which is negotiable with each individual. Other benefits include:
- Fully remote team (Founder based in Portugal).
- Unlimited vacation.
- $2K home office allowance.
- Flexible work schedule.
- Regular all-hands meeting in Europe.
To be considered, apply now (including a short covering note to Rebecca) and I’ll be in touch. We have a streamlined, straightforward interview process and make decisions swiftly.
