Bridge Mutual (BMI) is a multi-chain, decentralized discretionary coverage platform that is on a mission to become the #1 crypto-insurance provider in DeFi (decentralized finance).

BMI covers smart contracts (and soon also stablecoins and centralized services/exchanges) against hacks and exploits. The protocol allows users to provide coverage, decide on policy payouts, share profit, and get compensated for adjudicating claims. Users can purchase protection for their digital assets, or provide collateral in digital assets in exchange for a yield. We focus on great product design, pro-community business objectives, and synergy with other web3 innovations.

Job Description:

We are looking for a Quantitative Associate / Chief Economist to manage our platform’s economy, help our product design efforts, oversee Capital Pool investments, develop risk models and support the team with data-based insights.

You will assist the product team in creating cutting-edge insurance - like crypto derivatives, (first of their kind), and oversee the overall liquidity of the Bridge Mutual platform. As a Chief Economist, you’ll administrate the Bridge Mutual Vault’s activities, and design dedicated insurance investment offerings for the biggest enterprise liquidity providers in the crypto space. You’ll be expected to own and oversee the economy of the platform and work closely with product, marketing, and C-level leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Create robust financial models and analytics dashboards to support the product development effort as well as evaluate features performance.

  • Design custom-made leveraged insurance products for various DeFi protocols and stakeholders.

  • Utilize data science (both on-chain and off-chain) to discover actionable insights for the protocol.

  • Oversee the token economy, protocol’s vault, and its investment arm - The Capital Pool.

  • Develop an end-to-end risk management process for all the insurance pools on the platform.

  • Act as a quantitative liaison to external stakeholders and communicate key metrics to financial teams (TPS, Inflation/deflation rate, growth projections, etc).

  • Support the creation and execution of the overall company’s strategy with data-driven insights and quantitative data.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years working in an insurance company, hedge fund, investment bank, or a DeFi protocol.

  • A degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Physics, Quantitative Finance, or a related field with relevant work experience (experience in running simulations in R or Python is a plus!).

  • Technical expertise with data models and designing queries.

  • Deep interest and excitement for blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies and the new frontiers they will enable.

  • A solid understanding, or interest in, insurance products and insurance derivatives, especially credit default swaps.

  • Ability to use Excel (Google Sheets) for prototyping data models.

  • Strong knowledge of statistics.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute a research agenda.

  • Prior experience in the crypto industry (ideally in a quantitative role) is a plus!
