Economics Researcher
HashCloak Inc is a R&D lab and consultancy focused on privacy, anonymity and scalability for blockchains and cryptocurrencies. Founded in 2019, our team is well-known for working on state of the art Ethereum projects such as Ethereum 2.0, Shyft Network and Althea, for pioneering optimistic rollups and bringing forth the first empirical analysis of Ethereum’s privacy guarantees and applications.
We are hiring an economics researcher that will help us better serve our clients and internal teams on matters related to financial mathematics, game theory as it relates to DeFi protocols, the economics of privacy and p2p systems and the security of such systems. You will be in charge of staying up to date on the latest up and coming DeFi protocols and synthesize them for our clients, and the rest of the HashCloak team. You will write blog posts on interesting economic structures that are bing applied in practice and other novel DeFi research.
In short, you will be the go-to economics person at HashCloak!
Our team is interested in many exiciting areas at the intersection of cryptography, game theory, and finance, such as anonymous networking, private information retrieval, and zero-knowledge proofs. You will be working with a small, and international team based in different time zones around the world. We are a remote-only company and have a very flexible and relaxed culture.
This role is a great fit for someone that is a software engineer that wants to transition into a hybrid role at the intersection of R&D!
Responsibilities
- Assist in consulting projects on matters related to economics
- This can include analyzing different liquidity provisions schemes, comparing and contrasting between different futures protocol, etc.
- Assist internal teams at HashCloak on matters relating to economics
- Understand how major DeFi protocols like Uniswap, AAVE, Curve work.
- Research past and recent economic attacks against DeFi protocols from an economic perspective
- Produce economic research analysis for DeFi protocol-related economics attacks
- Conduct research for various blockchain protocols’s issuances of tokens and token economy designs
- Contribute to open source projects that we use in our research
- Stay up to date on research and development in the blockchain and cryptography ecosystems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in economics, finance, statistics, computer science, mathematics or related fields or equivalent experience
- Intermediate skills in Python or R with an emphasis on data analytics and simulations
- Knowledge of financial math and game theory
