About Coinflow

Coinflow is the next-generation payment service provider revolutionizing global financial infrastructure with stablecoins, AI-driven fraud prevention, and instant settlement. Coinflow enables businesses to grow faster with instant settlement, fraud & chargeback indemnity, global pay-ins, multi-currency FX, and unified payouts. Founded in 2023, the company serves marketplaces, fintechs, remittance providers, gaming platforms, and ecommerce merchants worldwide.

Since our seed round in 2024, we’ve achieved 23x revenue growth and scaled to multi-billion-dollar annual transaction volume. In response to this growth, Coinflow announced a $25M Series A in October 2025—led by Pantera Capital, CMT Digital, Coinbase Ventures, Jump Crypto, and Reciprocal Ventures—accelerating our mission to power the world’s fastest-moving businesses with innovative, reliable global payments.

Coinflow is proudly headquartered in Chicago, IL. Learn more at coinflow.cash.

About the Role

As we scale, we're making our first dedicated chargeback & fraud hire, a hands-on practitioner who will build our fraud function from the ground up: fraud tooling, investigations workflow, alert triage, and bank-partner reporting.

This role reports to our Risk Manager within the broader Risk & Compliance organization, and requires 5–8 years of relevant experience.

This is a builder role, not a maintainer role. You'll be the fraud subject-matter expert inside Coinflow, working alongside our BSA/AML Officer, Underwriters and Data Science, and will be the primary point of contact for fraud-related RFIs from our sponsor bank partners.

What You'll Do

Build the fraud function

  • Further develop and mature our existing transaction monitoring tool and investigations workflow, including case management, alerting logic, and evidence documentation standards.

  • Define SOPs, escalation paths, and decision frameworks for fraud investigations as the team's first dedicated hire.

Work alerts, investigations, and remediation

Monitor and triage fraud alerts across merchant and user/cardholder populations, investigating transaction patterns, account activity, and behavioral signals.
Conduct deep-dive investigations into suspected fraudulent merchants, card testing, account takeover, ACH fraud, and related fraud typologies.
Drive remediation: case disposition, funding actions, merchant/user offboarding recommendations, and root-cause analysis on confirmed fraud losses.

Identify and manage fraud risk vectors

  • Continuously assess Coinflow's exposure across merchant fraud (fraudulent merchant onboarding, bust-out schemes, transaction laundering) and user fraud (ATO, card testing, CNP fraud, ACH fraud, scams).

  • Track chargeback and fraud trends specific to our high-risk verticals (crypto on/off-ramps, gaming, remittance, digital goods) and recommend controls.

  • Monitor card network programs (VAMP, ECM/HECM, EFM, VIRP, BRAM, and new programs as they launch), in addition to NACHA program requirements, manage merchant remediation to stay below thresholds, and build workflows to meet new program requirements.

  • Track industry developments, network rule changes, and regulatory updates, and translate them into product and control recommendations.

Bank partner & stakeholder engagement

Serve as the primary owner of fraud-related RFIs from sponsor bank partners, preparing data, narratives, and supporting documentation.
Partner with the BSA/AML Officer and Data Science to align fraud and AML signal-sharing and investigations.
Present fraud metrics, trends, and program updates to Risk & Compliance leadership.

Operational Leadership (as the team grows)

Hire, train, and mentor fraud analysts.
Build out queue SLAs, escalation paths, and QA/calibration of analyst decisions.
Own the fraud playbooks and procedures.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in chargeback & fraud prevention, detection, investigations, or remediation within a payment service provider, Acquirer, or fintech platform.

  • Strong, hands-on understanding of fraud in the card acquiring space, covering both:

  • Merchant fraud: Fraudulent merchant onboarding/boarding fraud, transaction laundering, bust-out schemes, collusive merchant activity.

  • User/cardholder fraud: Account takeover (ATO), card testing, card-not-present (CNP) fraud, scams and social engineering.

  • Working knowledge of card brand fraud and chargeback monitoring programs such as VAMP, ECM, SMMP, VIRP, BRAM, etc., and experience remediating merchants against these thresholds.

  • Experience building or significantly improving fraud tooling, case management workflows, or investigations processes. This is a builder, not just an operator.

  • Comfortable responding directly to bank partner and sponsor bank RFIs, including preparing data and written narratives.

  • Highly analytical; comfortable using data to identify emerging fraud trends and to justify policy or tooling changes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to explain complex fraud findings clearly to non-fraud stakeholders and external partners.

  • Sound judgment and ability to make and stand behind difficult, sometimes ambiguous, fraud decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with high-risk or emerging verticals such as crypto on/off-ramps, gaming, sweepstakes, digital goods.
SQL proficiency or comparable data skills to build dashboards, track fraud metrics, and drive investigations independently.
Familiarity with AML/KYC/underwriting processes and how fraud and onboarding signals intersect in a payments risk organization.
People leadership experience or a demonstrated path toward building and leading a fraud team over time.
Comfortable discussing complex merchant processing situations with Acquirers, Sponsor Banks, and the Card Networks.

Join the team rewriting how money moves worldwide—and become a driving force in the $194 trillion cross-border payments market.
