The project


Nomos is a sovereign, modular, zk-encrypted network of blockchains. The trustless agreements layer of the Logos stack. The forthcoming Nomos network will provide a common infrastructure layer upon which communities and aspiring network states can build social, governance, and financial services that uphold their community members’ fundamental rights and values.


Key Responsibilities


This role is dedicated to applied research. Primarily, as a researcher, you will contribute to the design of new architectural solutions.


You will design, specify and verify distributed systems by leveraging formal and experimental techniques; build proof of concepts and prepare executable specifications for the development team.


It’s expected you regularly go through papers, bring new ideas and stay up-to-date with what is emerging in the space (blockchain, other L1s, distributed systems, Zero-Knowelde proofs, etc.).


You will conduct theoretical and practical analysis of the performance of distributed systems and present research results within the org and externally (e.g. conferences).


Ideally, you will have



  • Coding experience - this is a very important criteria for this role!

  • Research experience - this is a very important criteria for this role as well!

  • Strong background in Computer Science and Math, or a related area.

  • Distributed Systems experience with a focus in Blockchain.

  • Deep knowledge of algorithms.

  • Experience in analyzing the correctness of distributed systems.

  • Comfortable with “reverse engineering” code in a number of languages including Java, Go, Rust, etc. If no experience in these languages, the ability to read and understand code of other projects is useful for understanding other real-world systems.

  • Keen communicator, eager to share your work in a wide variety of contexts, like internal and public presentations, blog posts and academic papers.

  • Strong interest in privacy, censorship-resistant technology, open protocols.


Bonus points



  • Experience working for an open-source organization.

  • PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related area.

  • Track record of scientific publications.
