Position Summary
The Lead AML Product Specialist, AI & Automation is responsible for improving AML workflows, systems and processes across the AML function.
The role will work closely with AML Operations, Investigations, Transaction Monitoring, KYC/KYB, Compliance, Data and Engineering teams to identify inefficiencies, improve processes and deliver scalable solutions. A key part of the mandate is to embed AI and automation into relevant workstreams, with measurable improvements in productivity, quality and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and prioritise product and process improvement initiatives across AML operations.
- Review existing workflows and identify opportunities to simplify, automate or improve how work is performed.
- Drive end-to-end improvements across transaction monitoring, investigations, KYC/EDD, STR/SAR preparation, sanctions screening and case management.
- Work directly with AML teams to understand operational pain points and redesign workflows where appropriate.
- Translate AML and regulatory requirements into clear product requirements for Engineering, Data and AI teams.
- Develop practical solutions that reduce repetitive manual work and improve the quality and consistency of AML reviews.
- Embed AI-enabled tools into relevant AML workflows and ensure they are adopted in day-to-day operations.
- Ensure appropriate controls, human review, escalation and auditability are built into new processes.
- Track outcomes such as analyst productivity, turnaround time, false-positive reduction, investigation quality and control effectiveness.
- Be accountable for demonstrating meaningful application of AI and automation across the AML workstreams under the role’s remit.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in AML, financial crime, compliance technology, product management or a related field.
- Strong understanding of AML operations, including transaction monitoring, investigations, KYC/KYB/EDD and suspicious transaction reporting.
- Experience improving or implementing AML systems, workflows or operational processes.
- Experience working with AI, automation or data-driven solutions.
- Strong product management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate AML operational needs into practical technology solutions.
- Strong technology mindset and a track record of using new tools to improve how work is performed.
- Experience in crypto, payments, fintech or financial services is preferred.
