Job description
ABOUT AGORA
At Agora, our mission is to transform how money moves. We believe stablecoins will underpin a new financial fabric, one that is faster, more global, and more efficient than today's siloed systems. That is why we are building AUSD and the Agora stack, a full service platform that makes issuing, managing, and integrating stablecoins seamless, whether you're a developer, fintech, or institution. With AUSD, stablecoins become programmable, composable, and ubiquitous by default.
We believe digital dollars should be a public good: trusted, accessible, and built for real-world utility. Our mission is to drive adoption through customizable, user-friendly on-ramps that make stable, dollar-based value available onchain.
We're backed by world-class investors including Paradigm and Dragonfly, and we're growing a team to reimagine how value moves online.
We're intentional about who we bring on. If you're passionate about stablecoins and want to help create more open, intuitive ways for people to engage with money, let's talk.
ABOUT THE TEAM
We bring the discipline of high-performance finance teams and the creativity of a fast-moving crypto-native startup. We’re a small, mission-driven group of builders who move fast, sweat the details, and hold a high bar for excellence. You’ll be joining a tight-knit team that values clear thinking, extreme ownership, and high-velocity decision making.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the VP of Operations will own operational execution across Agora's fiat, payments, and stablecoin lifecycle products. This spans FBO account operations, FX execution, corporate and customer money movements, and AUSD minting/redemption operations and custody operations. This is a senior people-management role at the center of how money moves through Agora across both traditional fiat rails and on-chain stablecoin flows, working closely with banking and custody partners, compliance, and Product/Engineering as we roll out new capabilities ahead of Agora Bank's OCC charter.
We're looking for someone with deep, hands-on subject matter expertise in fiat/payments operations first and foremost, paired with working fluency in blockchain/crypto asset movement, with a high bar for excellence and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own day-to-day operational execution for customer account and corporate activity, including funding, internal money movements and controls, and exception handling.
- Monitor FX transactions across multiple currency corridors, ensuring accurate settlement and appropriate controls.
- Manage third-party payment processing workflows, including onboarding of new payment partners and rails.
- Help design and stand up new product and feature support ahead of launch, including process design, testing, and documentation.
- Serve as a primary operational point of contact for banking, payment, and custody partners, triaging and resolving escalated issues.
- Support audit and regulatory requests spanning both fiat and on-chain operations, including regulatory exam readiness.
- Build and maintain SOPs across fiat/payments and stablecoin/custody operations with audit navigability in mind.
- Identify process gaps and drive scalable, automated workflow design as the product suite and operations scale.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
6+ years of relevant experience in payment operations, treasury operations, or banking operations, with hands-on ownership of fiat money movement.
Demonstrated depth in at least two of the following: FBO/omnibus account operations, FX operations, ACH processing, third-party payment rail management.
Comfort operating with ambiguity and able to help design audit-ready process for new products.
Direct experience working with banking partners, payment processors, and/or digital asset custodians.
Excellent written communication.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with stablecoin mechanics specifically: minting, redemption, reserves.
Prior experience at a stablecoin issuer or bank.
People management experience.
Comfortable in a high-growth environment where products and processes are being built concurrently, sometimes without an existing playbook.
Working fluency in blockchain/crypto asset movement (wallets, on-chain transactions, block explorers, custody fundamentals) sufficient to own stablecoin minting/redemption and custody operations directly.
Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $210,000 – $240,000 per year. This position is also eligible for annual bonus opportunities and an option grant. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
