Substrate Rust Lead

The GIANT Protocol Foundation aims to empower the world to build a more open and inclusive internet. It created the GIANT Protocol to decentralize and democratize access to connectivity and financial services for all. It’s a new web3 telecommunications layer that coordinates, tokenizes, and financializes ownership of the entire telecom ecosystem.

At its core, GIANT is a native blockchain that acts as a Decentralized Internet Access Layer (“DIAL”) that aggregates existing corporate and community-owned network assets via a set of protocols that turn bandwidth into a global, digital asset, thus enabling the formation of a decentralized connectivity economy, accessible to anyone, owned by everyone.

The company is seeking an experienced engineering leader to drive the design and development of Web3 technologies - blockchain, smart contracts, protocols, proofs, wallets, nodes, explorer, open source, distributed ledgers, cryptography, and more. The Substrate Rust Lead will leverage their expertise in and passion for software development to implement scalable, performant, decentralized solutions on the blockchain. This is a great opportunity for you to interact directly with customers and influence definition and design from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design


• Evolve the technical direction of the service


• Deliver high-quality systems and features for customers


• Own the software development process end-to-end, including working with stakeholders to determine requirements and design, architect, plan, implement, test, and operate new systems and features


• Engage in and contribute to relevant open source projects


• Monitor project execution and ensure that the project is delivered on time, on budget, and with great quality

Requirements

• Has experience building Layer 1 native blockchain/components of blockchain using Substrate.


• Proficient in Rust Language.


• Experience with Substrate framework and tools.


• Smart Contracts dev using Solidity or Ink.


• 5+ years of programming experience with focus on using strongly typed languages (Rust, Golang, Typescript). NodeJs+Express is ok too.


• 3+ years of blockchain development experience.


• Open source contributions to existing Layer 1 blockchain projects.


• Good blockchain troubleshooting skills.


• Good understanding of Layer 2 blockchain solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with token distribution and/or crowd loans.


• Experience working on DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) platform.
