Financial Crimes Analyst

Our Financial Crimes Compliance team is responsible for ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations in the countries where we operate.

About the Role

Come join our International Sofia (Americas) compliance team supporting the Americas region.

The Sofia (Americas) Financial Crimes Analyst will work remotely and will closely assist and directly report to the Financial Crimes Manager, who reports to the Head of Financial Crimes Investigations.

The Sofia (Americas) Financial Crimes Analyst will assist with various assignments supporting the Compliance Program of the Company for the Americas clients (US & Canada).

Responsibilities

• Review alerts for transaction flows of digital assets and fiat currency in order to identify risk and potential suspicious activity.


• Ensure compliance with current Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions regulations, and other relevant legislation.


• Conduct account investigations and open source research in an effort to address any potential unusual activity.


• Perform due diligence on customers and review and investigate potential matches against sanctions and Counter the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) lists and ensure proper procedures are followed.


• Adhere to all policies and procedures.


• Maintain proficiency in all aspects of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/AML compliance; attend AML training as assigned by the Compliance Officer.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of AML/financial crimes investigations.


• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a financial crimes/AML analyst.


• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.


• Basic understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain.


• Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations related to Anti-Money Laundering.


• Basic computer skills (spreadsheet and word processing).


• Ability to interact professionally with all levels within the Company.


• Skilled at monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing account activity in order to identify unusual or suspicious activity.


• Familiarity with Financial Institutions (banks, fintech, etc.) operations in general.


• Self-motivated, dependable, adaptable, and detail-oriented individual with analytical, writing, and organizational skills required.


• Good time management skills.


• Fluent in English.


• Ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.


• Must be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
