Head of Finance & Operations
Lattice is an early stage crypto venture fund that has backed more than 30 exceptional teams since launching in Summer 2021. We’ve quickly become one of the most active early stage funds in crypto and we don’t intend to slow down anytime soon.
We are looking for an experienced strategic operations and finance professional to join our small but fast growing team. You’ll help build our execution strategy for tax-sensitive crypto investments including staking and liquidity provisioning. You will drive strategic financial decisions, financial planning and reporting, fund administration, and investment execution. You’ll also lead quarterly and annual LP communications, internal HR/expense/admin processes, and general fund and legal management priorities.
Responsibilities
Fund Strategy
- Build tax-efficient ways to deploy crypto strategies
- Diligence Lattice investments for potential tax implications
- Work with our outsourced counsel and tax advisory firm to optimize tax efficiency
- Running special purpose vehicles
- Running deal execution process, confirmatory diligence process, involving lawyers and other advisors
Fund Management
- Financial preparation/reporting
- Work with our outsourced fund administrator to ensure accurate and timely fund financial reporting
- Preparation of external quarterly and annual reports
- Ongoing internal analysis of portfolio valuation and metrics as well as reserve planning model
- Accounting
- Process cash transactions for all funds (LP capital calls, LP distributions, partnership capital calls, partnership distributions)
- Management company accounting
Audit/Tax/Insurance
- Lead/execute audits
- Respond to audit confirmations for clients and partnerships
- Review all required federal, state, city, and payroll tax returns for accuracy and lead timely year-end tax compliance and filing efforts
- Maintain up to date understanding of all current and emerging financial, insurance, and tax reporting requirements relevant to fund and management company compliance
Operations
- Managing Investor communications & relations for existing funds and new fund launches in collaboration with General Partners
- Run HR-related processes (i.e. Benefits administration, onboarding, payroll, etc.)
- Assist in keeping updated on any SEC reporting obligations, compliance with Insider Trading policies,, Insurance policies, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a leading institution. CPA preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of crypto assets/Web3
- Excellent financial/excel modeling skills required; familiarity with general accounting principles preferred
- Proven experience working in finance, fundraising, management consulting and/or accounting required. Strong preference for previous fund accounting experience and experience in the venture ecosystem either at venture funds, at an outsourced finance firm, or public accounting firms
- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal language skills, as well as data analysis and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a proactive mindset, able to think out of the box and to come up with new ways to improve Lattice
- A flexible, curious and enthusiastic approach, with the ability to undertake a wide range of assignments and to manage priorities to achieve deadlines
- Team player, with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills (High EQ and IQ)
