About Bitcoin Jobs

This page lists Bitcoin jobs at companies working directly on Bitcoin: Lightning Network teams, custody and self-custody providers, wallets, exchanges, mining operations and hardware makers. Roles cover engineering, security, operations, compliance, sales and support.

Bitcoin engineering uses a different stack from most Web3 roles: C++ for Bitcoin Core, Rust and Go around Lightning, plus scripting, key management and hardware security. Outside engineering, mining companies hire site technicians and facilities staff, and exchanges hire compliance and support. If a listing is Bitcoin-only, expect questions on UTXOs, fees and custody rather than smart contracts.

What jobs are there in Bitcoin?

The companies in this part of the field build wallets, custody services, exchanges, payment rails and Lightning infrastructure, or they run mining operations. That produces engineering and security roles, but also site and electrical technicians at mines, compliance and treasury staff at exchanges, and the usual marketing, support and operations teams. Hardware makers add firmware, manufacturing and logistics roles.

How is a Bitcoin job different from a crypto job?

Bitcoin-focused employers work on one chain, so the engineering is closer to systems and security work than to smart contract development, and the product questions are about custody, payments and settlement. Broader crypto companies support many chains and tokens and hire for that variety. If you want either, browse both this page and /jobs/crypto, since some employers appear on both.

What skills do Bitcoin companies look for?

For protocol and wallet engineering: C++, Rust or Go, cryptography, key management and a careful approach to testing, since mistakes are not reversible. Lightning roles add routing, channel management and node operations. Mining employers look for electrical and data center skills, energy procurement and site management. Non-engineering listings usually want experience in payments, banking or regulated finance.
