About Crypto Trading Jobs

This page lists crypto trader jobs — trader, quantitative trader, market maker, trading operations and execution roles at exchanges, market making firms, proprietary trading desks, funds and OTC desks.

Expect two broad tracks. Quantitative and systematic roles ask for statistics, Python or C++, and experience with backtesting, risk models and low-latency systems; discretionary and operations roles lean on market structure knowledge, execution discipline and the ability to manage positions across venues at odd hours. Crypto markets run continuously, so many listings mention shift work or on-call coverage. Trading operations and settlement roles are a common way into a desk without a quant background, and worth filtering for if you are switching in from finance.

What do you need to become a crypto trader?

For quantitative seats, employers typically look for strong mathematics and statistics plus programming — Python is near-universal, C++ or Rust for latency-sensitive work — and evidence you understand risk, not just returns. Discretionary and market making roles put more weight on market structure, venue mechanics and a track record you can discuss. Trading operations roles ask for accuracy and calm under pressure more than modeling skill.

Do crypto trading jobs require finance experience?

Not always. Desks regularly hire from software engineering, mathematics and physics backgrounds for quant and infrastructure seats, and some run their own training. Traditional finance experience helps most for OTC, sales trading and treasury roles where counterparty relationships and settlement practice matter. Each listing states its own bar, so read the requirements rather than assuming one.

Are crypto trading jobs remote?

Some are, though many firms prefer traders on site for risk oversight and shared infrastructure, particularly for low-latency strategies. Research, quant development and operations roles are more often offered remotely. Type remote in the location box above, or open /jobs/remote for the full set.
